Doha College Pupil Earns Global Recognition for Psychology Research.
At Doha College, we believe that exceptional learning happens when curiosity is encouraged, passions are nurtured, and pupils are empowered to explore ideas beyond the classroom. That commitment to inspiring minds has been exemplified by Year 12 pupil Maryam P, whose academic research has earned international recognition after receiving a Highly Commended award in a global essay-writing competition focused on research and academic writing.

Maryam's essay, 'Do Personality Traits Remain Stable Over a Lifetime?', placed among the top 15 entries worldwide, recognising the quality of her research, critical analysis and academic writing.
Exploring one of psychology's most enduring debates, Maryam examined whether personality remains stable throughout life or continues to develop through experience. Drawing upon established psychological theories, contemporary research and evidence from developmental psychology, her essay presented a balanced and well-reasoned argument that demonstrated an impressive depth of understanding well beyond the classroom.
The achievement reflects more than academic excellence. It highlights the independent thinking, intellectual curiosity and commitment to scholarship that are central to the Doha College experience.

As a recipient of the Year 12 Psychology Subject Award, Maryam has consistently demonstrated both a passion for psychology and a determination to challenge herself academically. Looking ahead, she plans to study Psychology at university and has chosen to expand her research further through her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), allowing her to investigate the subject in even greater depth.
The EPQ is one of the many opportunities available to 6th Form pupils at Doha College to pursue independent academic enquiry. It encourages pupils to develop the research, analysis and critical thinking skills that prepare them for university and future careers, while exploring subjects that genuinely inspire them.
Maryam's success also reflects the values of the Doha College Learner Profile. Through resilience, curiosity and a commitment to academic excellence, she has embraced the challenge of conducting sophisticated research, evaluating complex evidence and communicating her ideas with confidence. These are the qualities we strive to develop in every pupil as part of The DC Difference.
At Doha College, learning extends far beyond examinations. Through subject enrichment opportunities, independent research projects and experiences that encourage pupils to think critically and creatively, we equip young people with the confidence and skills to thrive in higher education and beyond.
Maryam's achievement is a wonderful example of what can happen when passion meets opportunity. We congratulate her on this outstanding international recognition and look forward to seeing where her academic journey takes her next.
